It's All About Contingency...

Posted on Feb 14, 2010 by Wedding Text

How many of us take pleasure in reading posts on the countless mishaps that happen at other peoples' weddings?  Shamelessly, I will admit I DO

It is part of our job here at Wedding Text to bring you wedding planning tips and entertainment.  During my research, I have come across many wild stories of matrimony.

Take, for example, the couple who had everything prepared for their backyard wedding.  To combat the possibility of rain, the couple had even rented a ginormous tent, which ultimately paid off. Everything was going to be fine, or so they thought.  Midway during the ceremony, one of the neighbors had let out their dogs which promptly barreled through the tent, into the ceremony, jumped on the bride and soiled her beautiful wedding dress.

It just goes to show that regardless of contingency planning there will always be something for which you didn't plan. The best contingency plan of all is to be prepared to roll with the punches.

Personally, on my wedding day, the only mishaps were the cake guy being involved in an auto accident on the way to the wedding and my father-in-law dropping my wife on the floor after being carried around the dance floor on his shoulders.  And yes, the fall was caught on video tape.

We would love to hear your wedding stories and with your permission would consider publishing it in a future Wedding Text blog post.

And, if you know any couples getting engaged and planning a wedding, be sure to propose Wedding Text.
